About Me
Professionally, I thrive on continuously researching services based on community feedback and library trends, engaging with patrons from diverse backgrounds, implementing new and winning programs. Adhering to professional standards and beliefs in intellectual freedom and privacy, I work with library administration toward goals that align with departmental and organizational visions.
Personally, I enjoy crafting my environment, whether it be through home projects, creating art, gardening, reading, or landscaping. I aim to cultivate green spaces as a gardener, amateur rosarian, and by certifying my home as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. Intellectually, I yearn to understand our world with an open mind, constant
curiosity, and community exchange.
Experience Overview
Professional, team-oriented librarian with diversified skillset and over 15 years' experience working in public libraries. Manages Children's Department, steering programming toward digital literacy and citizenship. Works with robotics, AI, and coding for elementary ages. Developed YA Department and facilitated in the planning and operations of the first Roanoke County Public Library Teen Center. Assisted in the development, planning and opening of Vinton Library. Specific knowledge in reference interviews, interlibrary loans, computer/technology instruction, research, Youth Services, AI and robotics, and library management.
